Message from the Dean
Don Rosenblum

Dear Students,

Involvement in scholarship and research is an excellent way to affirm your understanding and engagement with a topic; often, this leads to more questions and a deeper appreciation for learning and the value of your degree. In the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, the responsibility to be involved in scholarly work is shared by students and faculty. The result is that our faculty are actively involved in and familiar with the topics they teach. Equally important, our students carry direct and applied experience from the classroom to professional settings.

I am proud to announce that on March 23, the college will host its second-annual Faculty Symposium. This event showcases faculty research across a wide and diverse range of fields. The program is a celebration of scholarship where faculty members demonstrate their commitment to a productive life of exploration and critical thinking.

On April 3, the college will celebrate outstanding student scholarship during the eighth-annual Undergraduate Student Symposium. This event features student presentations and posters as well as a festival of short student-made films. I am always impressed at the very good work by our students, reflecting strong mentorship by faculty.

I invite you to attend both of these programs and join the college's celebration of student and faculty scholarship.

Sincerely,

Don Rosenblum, Ph.D.
Dean, Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences
