Summer Contest for Florida Marlins Fans
Attention baseball and Florida Marlins fans: do you own a "rival" team's jersey? If so, the Marlins want to know why!
The team is hosting a contest inviting fans to submit a short video (15 to 40 seconds) explaining their reason for owning the rival jersey. It's all part of the team's "What's Your Reason" video contest.
According to the team, "Whether fans are using the Phillies jersey to play fetch with their dog or drying their cars off with a Mets jersey after a car wash, all Marlins fans have a chance to win when they submit their video."
"The grand-prize winner will be announced on Saturday, August 1, 2009, when the Marlins host the Chicago Cubs. The winner will receive The Ultimate Marlins Game Experience, which includes a night at the ballpark starting with pre-game batting practice and stadium tour, a premier view of the Marlins game from a suite stocked with food and beverages for up to 10 people, autographed Marlins memorabilia, and a Marlins jersey for the video creator."
Videos must be submitted by Thursday, July 2, 2009, either online at www.marlins.com or by mail to:

Quadrivium
The college is pleased to announce the launch of Quadrivium, a new online
journal of multidisciplinary scholarship. The term “quadrivium” describes the four arts and sciences studied by university students in the Middle Ages. The college has its own “quadrivium” made up of its four divisions—Social and Behavioral Sciences; Humanities; Math, Science, and Technology; and Performing and Visual Arts.
Quadrivium seeks to bring together the faculty and graduate students of these four divisions to showcase the critical and creative work they do as scholars and teachers.
In addition to featuring the research and scholarship of more than a dozen of the college’s faculty members, Quadrivium’s digital format allows readers to literally see—and in some cases, hear—the work referenced throughout the various articles. Photos, paintings, charts, and audio clips all enhance the collection and make Quadrivium a truly interactive experience for readers.
The premiere issue of Quadrivium is now available online and makes for great summer reading!
Farquhar Forum
The winter 2009 issue of the Farquhar Forum is now available for viewing online. The latest issue features a cover story on NSU alumnus Somy Ali, who is the founder and president of her own clothing line, So-Me Designs, whose colorful T-shirt fashions make statements about everything from religious tolerance to world peace.
The Forum also includes spotlights on faculty and student research and scholarship. Gary Gershman, J.D., Ph.D., associate professor in the college's Division of Humanities, speaks about spending time as a student again in a fellowship at the Holocaust Education Foundation and how that affects his teaching of the Holocaust at NSU. Biology major Carlos Haderspock reflects upon how a life-changing summer internship in Austria sparked a determination to pursue his dream of becoming a doctor and finding ways to help others.
All this and more is captured in the pages of the Farquhar Forum's winter 2009 issue.
