To support talented performing and visual arts students, the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences offers a talent-based Performing and Visual Arts Grant. Students pursuing a B.A. in art, dance, music, or theatre or who participate in the NSU Sharkestra Pep Band or orchestra programs, may apply. This grant, awarded on a yearly basis, is available to current undergraduate students, incoming freshmen, and transfer students.

Pursue a B.A. in Art
The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences will be offering a bachelor of arts in art with concentration
in graphic design or studio art.
Pursue a B.A. in Dance
Dance majors at NSU will be able to train in a variety of dance techniques, create choreography and perform
in our state of the art facilities. In addition, majors will develop historical and cultural knowledge
of dance and gain hands-on productions experience in preparation for a professional career in dance or dance-related
field.
Pursue a B.A. in Music
The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences will be offering a bachelor of arts in music starting in the
fall of 2008. The college's music program performs an original production each year.
Pursue a B.A. in Theatre
In the theatre major at NSU, students learn to communicate effectively, identify historical theatre periods
and styles, demonstrate knowledge of, and skill in, aspects of technical theatre such as costuming, lighting,
set design and construction, demonstrate skill in public performance, direct theatrical scenes or productions, and understand
the role of drama in culture.
Participate in the NSU Sharkestra Pep Band
The NSU Sharkestra Pep Band brings live entertainment, energy, and spirit to NSU home basketball games.
The band plays jazz, rock, pop, traditional college pep material, and NSU school songs.
Participate in the Orchestra
The orchestra is a student group that provides a challenging opportunity for musicians to develop their
talents, deepen their appreciation of concert music, hone their musical skills, and share their abilities
with one another, the university, and the community at large.
